DPD Austria provides mobile site for tracking of parcels

DPD Austria has introduced a new mobile version of its website, through which customers can check on the progress of their parcels. The new mobile website was launched last week as the parcel and express delivery company relaunched its website.

Rainer Schwarz, CEO at DPD Austria, said the aim of the website relaunch was to keep improving it, particularly so that it is user friendly and targeted to individual customer needs.

The re-launched website includes simplified search capabilities, news alerts and a teaser panel to highlight specific services, products or tools.

Schwarz said: “It was important to us to make the use of the website as simple and fast as possible.”

Mobile

The DPD Austria CEO said the mobile version of the site was important for the development of the company’s parcel services.

“For us, it is important that the enquiry function which allows customers to check on the status of their parcel is available round-the-clock, and from any location,” said Schwarz.

DPD has provided the mobile version of its website at mobile.dpd.at, and specifically for it, has simplified the shipment tracking function.

And, the mobile website even provides users with a route planner to help them find their way to the office where they can pick up their parcel.

“Customers want to find out quickly where their parcel is. Via the mobile PDP website they can now not only find the location of the nearest DPD depot, but also the fastest way to get there,” said Schwarz.

DPD Austria, part of La Poste’s Geopost subsidiary, handles about 37m packages each year through 14 depots and a main hub. With 1,500 staff, the company turns over about EUR 153m a year.
