Hermes UK wins five-year parcel contract with New Look
Parcel delivery company Hermes UK has won a five-year e-commerce delivery contract with the British fashion retailer New Look. The contract previously held by rivals Yodel should involve the Leeds-based Hermes delivering around 3m parcels a year to households across the UK.
New Look provides clothing, shoes and accessories for men, women, teens and children from its website, with an annual revenue of around GBP 1.1bn.
On the new home delivery contract it will be using the standard 48-hour and next day delivery options from Hermes UK.
The delivery company said it would be making daily collections from the retailer’s fulfilment house in Lichfield, Staffordshire, transferring items to the Hermes national distribution hub, about 22 miles away, prior to distribution to the Hermes regional depot network.
Hermes has a network of 7,500 couriers providing the last-stage of delivery to New Look customers.
Pat Lee, the group operations director at New Look, said her company had 365m customers visiting its e-commerce website or brick-and-mortar stores.
“In order to facilitate and continue our successful ecommerce growth it was vital that we selected a partner that we could work closely with in order to maximise first-time delivery rates and ensure service quality,” said Lee.
Jon Tobbell, commercial director at Hermes UK, said: “This long-term commitment from New Look recognises our ability to provide an effective home delivery service for leading online, catalogue and high street retailers. Our courier network approach offers an unrivalled solution that combines quality doorstep delivery, with a friendly and local service.”
Hermes UK is part of the European group Hermes Logistics Group, which is owned by German mail order and catalogue retail giant Otto Group.
