SEUR tries out all-electric delivery vehicle in Valencia

Spanish express company SEUR is trying out a new all-electric vehicle suitable for the delivery of small packages and messages within urban areas of Valencia. The company said the first new Cross Rider vehicle will operate home delivery services for organic supermarket chain retailer Herbolario Navarro.

The vehicle meets the organic retailer’s concerns about respecting the environment and people’s health, SEUR said.

SEUR introduced electric tricycles in various parts of Spain last year, but said it now wants to introduce a vehicle with a larger capacity to its “green fleet”. The Cross Rider has a capacity of about 300kg and a top speed ot 50 km/h.

The vehicle offers the environmental benefits of cutting air pollution and noise.

“Transportation is responsible for 20% of the emission of greenhouse gases. In addition, nine out of 10 Spaniards are breathing unhealthy air,” the company said.

“Thanks to this new distribution option, in addition to fighting climate change, we are promoting better traffic flow, improving the agility and quality of service in these areas, and by state-of-the-art innovation making an interesting contribution to the image of cities that has a decisive influence on people’s quality of life.”

SEUR said it is building on a socially responsible business policy that is committed to sustainable development, particularly including sustainable transport. As well as making use of environmentally friendly vehicles, the firm is optimising delivery routes and improving the efficiency of driving.
