Canada Post – 7 post offices to close on Saturdays; more could follow

Canada Post locations in seven Newfoundland communities will no longer be open on Saturdays.

The affected locations are in Englee, Belleoram, New Harbour, Cape Broyle, Sunnyside, Carmanville and English Harbour West.
Spokesperson John Caines said the corporation has to cut costs.
He notes that people are just not going to the post office on the weekend.
Caines said some of the 193 remaining post offices in the province could also lose Saturday hours.
“If we see that it’s not cost-effective to keep them open on Saturdays — and we’re talking only Saturdays now, and most of them are open a maximum of four hours on Saturday — then they will be closed,” he said.
Caines said the closures are happening across the country
