Neopost’s US-based mailing software house Satori Software has acquired Monticello Software Incorporated to strengthen its line-up of mail preparation products.
The move comes just ahead of new mandates from the US Postal Service for large mailers to meet the standards of the Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb) Full Service programme in order to claim discounts that are on offer for automation mail.
The requirement for IMb Full Service is expected to become mandatory for automation discounts from 2014.
Seattle-based Satori Software said the Monticello post-presort software allows mailers to manage their mailing data files when submitting and paying for mailings through the USPS electronic mail entry platform, PostalOne!.
Use of PostalOne! for submitting mailing documentation is a key requirement of IMb Full Service.
Corey Smith, the company’s vice president of production mail solutions, said customers would gain a “distinct advantage” using the Monticello system as the Full Service requirement takes force in 2014.
He said: “As the only company in the industry that provides both presort and post-presort solutions, customers can look to us for advanced technology and unwavering support in their efforts to optimize postage discounts and transportation planning of mail.”
Monticello customers will see no operational changes in the production, sales and distribution of the software “for the time being”, Satori said of the acquisition.
“Complete set”
Satori said that adding the Monticello suite to its line-up of software products now gives it a “complete solution set” for data quality, presort and post-presort optimization, tracking and data entry systems.
The acquisition is the company’s second in the last three months, after Satori took over the Postalsoft Presort software back in October from German-owned partners SAP America, Inc.
It also fits in with a general move by parent group Neopost to strengthen its presence in the mail software arena, the Paris-based group having recently acquired Dutch software firm Human Interference, along with July’s acquisition of Swiss-based GMC Software.
Virginia-based Monticello Software was founded in 1995 to specialise in software supporting the Mail.dat system used by USPS, with customers ranging from printers and letter-shops to logistics providers, service bureaus and mailers.
Joe Bailey, the president of Monticello Software, said his company was excited to become part of the Satori team.
“It’s great news for our customers as well,” he said. “We’ll continue to provide high-quality software products and excellent customer support, but now our customers gain the ability to tap into the vast mailing knowledge and resources Satori Software has to offer.”
