Australia Post Signs Deal With American Express

Australia Post has beefed-up its service offering, striking a deal with American Express enabling customers to access travellers cheques and foreign exchange through 2,900 postal outlets around Australia.
In addition, customers will be able to cash their Travellers Cheques commission-free at the same outlets.
“We are delighted with this strategic partnership with Australia Post, which adds 2,900 outlets for the American Express Travellers Cheque in Australia,” said American Express regional travellers cheques vice president and general manager John Chia.
Mr Chia said ordering the travellers cheques through Australia Post would be easy, with Australia Post staff able to advise on cheques and foreign currency notes required for each customers travel destination.
Although traditionally seen as one of the safest forms of taking cash offshore, travellers cheque providers face increasing competition from electronic bank services or global credit cards such as Visa or Mastercard.
