Australia Post opens new superstore
Australia Post has opened a new “superstore” in Hervey Bay, Queensland.
The company’s superstores aim to “cater for changing consumer needs and to make it easier and more convenient for customers to access postal services in a modern environment”.
Australia Post Regional Manager Retail Services QLD, Anita Britcher, said the new superstore – which was officially opened on Thursday (23 July) – would offer local residents and businesses “an innovative range of parcel and postal products and services”.
“Online shopping in Australia continues to grow so the introduction of a superstore in Hervey Bay provides shoppers with access to postal services six days a week in a new, modern environment,” said Britcher.
“Our customers’ needs have changed substantially over time and this superstore is another great example of how we’re changing to meet those needs, investing in the community, and demonstrating our commitment to regional Queensland.”
Key features of the new superstore include:
- A 24/7 zone with parcel lockers (including dedicated lockers for PO Box holders)
- Self-service terminals for paying bills, purchasing products and sending letters or parcels
- A dedicated online shopping zone including Apple Macs and iPads (apparently this is “coming soon” to the new Hervey Bay superstore)
- Financial services including bill payment and banking
- Identity services including tax file number applications and passport services
- Travel services including travel cards, travel insurance and travel merchandise.
The Hervey Bay superstore brings the total number of Australia Post superstores to 56 nationwide, and contributes to Australia Post’s commitment to havig 50 superstores in regional and rural areas by 2020.
