Ghostruck expands US coverage
Ghostruck, one of a number of delivery startups which has been characterized as “Uber for deliveries”, has recently extended its coverage to include 11 more US cities following a 10-month pilot in its home town Seattle. The cities that have been added to the Ghostruck network are: Boston, Washington DC, Atlanta, Miami, Denver, Austen, San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego and Portland. On its website, however, Ghostruck does point out that only a “limited service” is currently available in the newly-added cities.
Ghostruck grew out of Seattle-based incubator 9Mile Labs last year. Co-founder and CEO Nathanel Nienaber told tech news website Geekwire this week that the company now has 10 full-time employees, along with six part-timers.
Ghostruck specialises in helping people sources trucks for larger deliveries, describing itself as a “moving concierge”.
This is becoming a well-populated marketplace. In Seattle alone, Ghostruck is joined by two other “Uber for deliveries” type companies: Wagon and Fleetzen. Ghostruck says it is different from the crowd, however, because it puts people in touch with professional moving services with box trucks, as opposed to ordinary people who happen to have large vehicles. The strapline on its website is “Professional movers at your fingertips”.
