Hudson’s Bay Company to incorporate “highly innovative robotic technology” in new distribution centre
Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) has announced its new all-channel fulfilment distribution centre (DC) in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, will use “highly innovative robotic technology” that will help it “leapfrog” to the “forefront of internet distribution technology”. According to HBC, the new distribution centre, which is set to open on 1 July, will run “best-in-class robotic retail technology that is approximately three-times faster than the typical technology utilized in e-commerce DCs”.
The facility will support all e-commerce fulfilment for HBC’s Lord & Taylor and Saks OFF 5TH department store banners.
“At HBC, we are laser-focused on our all-channel strategy, and this investment leapfrogs us to the forefront of internet distribution technology,” said Jerry Storch, HBC’s Chief Executive Officer.
Following the opening of the Pottsville facility, HBC plans to introduce the technology to its Scarborough, Ontario distribution centre later this year.
