Amazon inks another air freight deal

Amazon has taken another step in extending its air freight capabilities, through a new “long term relationship” with Atlas Air. According to a presentation posted on Atlas Air’s website today, the new relationship will involve the use of 20 B767-300 converted freighters and is designed to “support fast deliveries for Amazon’s customers”.

Amazon will also be granted rights to acquire equity in Atlas Air Worldwide (AAWW).

As previously reported, Amazon agreed a deal with Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) earlier this year. This deal also involved the leasing of 20 Boeing B767 aircraft and Amazon took a 10% share of ATSG.
