Amazon Prime Now expands to Scotland

The Amazon Prime Now service is now available to customers in selected postcodes in Glasgow, including Parkhead, Shawlands and Paisley. Prime members in these areas can buy from a selection of 15,000 items and opt for delivery within one hour of ordering for £6.99, or free delivery within a choice of two-hour, same-day delivery slots between 10am and 10pm, seven days a week.

Two-hour delivery windows are also available in Motherwell, Kilmarnock and Cumbernauld.

Customers can choose from thousands of items, including essentials such as nappies, coffee, chocolate and fresh milk, as well as other popular items like games consoles, toys, gifts and sports equipment—all via a simple and easy-to-use mobile app.

“From today, Prime customers in Glasgow can get the items they need quickly delivered right to the door in under an hour,” said Jason Weston, director of Amazon’s Prime Now service in the UK.

Amazon Prime Now had its UK launch in London in 2015 and is now available to more than 30% of the UK population. In addition to London and Glasgow, cities and regions covered by the service include:  Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Portsmouth, South Yorkshire and Surrey.

Today’s Scottish launch of Prime Now follows the introduction last year of the Prime Same Day service to Prime Members in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Orders placed by noon are delivered between 6pm and 10pm the same day, seven days a week – at no additional cost to their Prime membership.

One-day delivery is available to all Prime members across the UK.
