GoGoGrandparent: access to on-demand services for people without smartphones
US start-up GoGoGrandparent is offering a service which it describes as “Uber for folks that don’t like smartphones”. Essentially, it is a 24/7 automated phone-based system. The caller phones the hotline, gives their pick-up and drop-off point and GoGoGrandparent gets in contact with Uber.
GoGoGrandparent charges a fixed fee and a percentage commission on each ride. So it is more expensive than using Uber directly, but it does open up the ridehailing service to the millions of people who don’t have smartphones, or don’t like to use apps.
As the company name suggests, the service is particularly targeted at the older generation.
Founded by Justin Booogaard and David Lung, GoGoGrandparent started operations this year.
While GoGoGrandparent currently focuses on arranging Uber rides, the company plans to branch out to include meal and grocery deliveries “soon”.
