Getting it sorted
Emirates Post Group’s (EPG) Ramool Sorting Centre, which handles incoming and outgoing mail from across the UAE, now has sorting machines that are capable of handling large or odd-size magazines and other printed publications. Magazines and brochures form a large component of the mail sorted at the Ramool Sorting Centre – but before the installation of the new machines, the large-size magazines had to be sorted manually.
“Ramool Sorting Centre has been designed to cope with rising mail volumes, but it had the limitation of not being able to sort large-size magazines automatically,” said Acting CEO of EPG, Mr. Abdulla Alashram. “Now with the installation of new machines, we are able to sort large-size publications with speed, thus reinforcing our reputation as one of the most advanced sorting centres in the region.”
In a statement issued on 28 December, EPG said that Ramool Sorting Centre receives about 20m letters and parcels a month, about 5m of which are international deliveries. It is equipped with advanced sorting machines that read addresses automatically.
The sorting centre features automated registered mail processing, automated redirection of mail, and capacity to handle large-size envelopes and heavier mail.
