DHL Singapore assits overseas voting in Belgian elections
DHL has been selected by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the official air express company to expedite its overseas voting process. Through this project, DHL Express will assist Belgian citizens who are living abroad to vote in the forthcoming National elections. (5/14/2003)
Though voting in Belgium is mandatory, it is the first time that Belgian citizens working abroad will be able to participate in the elections.
DHL was selected based on its unrivalled logistics and transportation network. DHL will ensure that Belgian citizens living in Singapore receive their ballots on time and are able to participate in the elections. Belgian citizens in Singapore have been informed about this initiative.
Mr Peter Yeo, National Marketing Manager, DHL Singapore said, “We are pleased to be involved in this project. Our customers know that we can guarantee the highest level of security and confidentiality and this is an example of how we go the extra mile for all our customers. We look forward to working with our counterparts across our network to assist in allowing Belgian citizens working and living abroad to vote.”
The Belgian elections are not the first one that DHL will be participating in. In October 2000, DHL worked with the United States (US) authorities for the third consecutive year to assist its citizens to cast their votes for the US Presidential and Congressional Elections.
DHL Singapore will consolidate all completed ballots from Belgian citizens before delivering them through its International Express Transport service to DHL in Belgium. The handling and shipment process will begin on 16 May 2003, with the Belgian Elections taking place on 18 May 2003.
