Open to innovation

New research from B2C Europe has suggested that French consumers are more open to new delivery technologies than their counterparts in the UK and Netherlands. While consumers in the UK and the Netherlands are open to some innovation, such as unmanned safes, many still had security concerns.

Key findings from the research – which used a survey of 1,000 respondents across the UK, the Netherlands and France – included:
• 58% of French consumers would give couriers temporary access to their property via a one-time access code
• In comparison, only 36% and 25% of UK and Dutch consumers respectively would give access to their homes due to security and insurance concerns
• Almost 2/3 of French respondents would allow couriers temporary access to their cars, in comparison with around 1/3 of UK and Dutch consumers
• The majority of respondents would give couriers access to an unmanned safe, with 53% in the Netherlands, 64% in the UK and 88% in France
• An unmanned safe was the preference across all nations, of the 3 delivery options described

Commenting on the findings, Rijk van Meekeren, CCO and founder of B2C Europe, said: “The future of the ecommerce industry depends on its ability to innovate and these initial findings show that consumers are open to change. We must continue to research and invest in new technologies if we are to overcome the obstacles that the ecommerce industry is facing, such as environmental damage and congestion in cities. At B2C Europe we thrive on innovation and are constantly on the lookout for new ideas and technologies.”

B2C Europe commissioned the research from Bluebeez, working in cooperation with ResearchNow.
