CollectPlus launches “Social Send” service

UK-based parcel store network CollectPlus has launched a new service which will enable users to send parcels even if they only know the recipient’s email address, messenger details or mobile. CollectPlus said that the service would be particularly convenient for online sellers who “use mobile marketplaces to sell items and as a result, don’t have the buyers’ address details”.

When “Social Send” is selected, CollectPlus automatically sending the recipient a link which allows them to select a convenient delivery location from any one of the 6,500 parcel points in the CollectPlus network.  The sender can then drop off the parcel at their local CollectPlus store.

The recipient will be notified when the parcel has reached its destination and is ready to pick up and CollectPlus also provides the sender with proof of delivery.  Parcels can be tracked by both parties and they are kept safely for collection at the destination parcel point for up to 10 days.

The Social Send service is priced from £4.99, with 3 to 5-day delivery including £50 of transit cover as standard.

Matthew Jacques, Strategic Partnerships Director at CollectPlus, said: “We’ve created a service that makes sending parcels on your mobile as simple and convenient as sending money through PayPal. In a world where we have more connections than ever before but rarely know the postal addresses of our contacts, Social Send is the ultimate in convenience.

“We expect Social Send to be popular with buyers and sellers on marketplaces like Depop, who want to send or receive an item without disclosing their address or having to meet up in person.”
