Orange hand points the way to postal voting stations in Sweden

In conjunction with the referendum on whether Sweden will adopt the euro, Posten is offering postal voting at more than 1,500 voting stations across the country between August 27 and September 14. Posten has handled early voting since 1942. Postal voting has accounted for roughly one-third of the ballots cast in the previous four elections. Like the 2002 general elections, the orange hand symbol will be visibly displayed at all postal voting stations.

Inger Holmström, director of corporate communications at Posten comments: “Postal voting is a job we do with a great deal of pride, and we’re honored to have more than 1,500 voting stations in place for this important referendum. You can cast your ballot at the postal voting station of your choice, irrespective of where you live in Sweden.”

Posten’s website, www.posten.se, has a locater function to help you find the most convenient postal voting station. You can also phone Posten’s voting information hotline at 020-56 57 54.

Postal Centers and Swedish Cashier Service branches, which are staffed by Posten employees, will serve as the primary voting stations alongside most of the partner-operated establishments offering essential financial services. In some areas, postal voting stations will be set up in convenient or centrally located buildings such as public libraries.

In addition, the 2,500 rural letter carriers serving residents in rural or remote areas are authorized to accept postal ballots.
