Asda installs automated parcel tower in Manchester store
Asda has introduced an automated parcel tower at its Trafford Park store in Greater Manchester.
In a statement issued today (5 January), Asda said that customers can use the parcel lockers to collect of online orders from George.com and selected third party partners including Asos, Missguided and Decathlon from Asda’s ‘toyou’ delivery service.
The tower, which is located inside the store, can also be used for returns. The 16ft foot tall and 8ft wide unit can hold up to 500 parcels.
Asda said that Trafford Park’s parcel tower was installed at the end of last week as “a proof of concept”, it has already served 1,500 local customers.
The Old Trafford store is the first in the UK to have a parcel tower. As previously reported by Post&Parcel, Asda’s parent company Walmart has already installed parcel towers (which are manufactured by Cleveron) in more than 100 of its US stores.
