Jürgen Gerdes to leave Deutsche Post DHL

Jürgen Gerdes has resigned his mandate as Member of the Management Board of Deutsche Post DHL Group.

In a statement issued yesterday (12 June) Deutsche Post DHL Group said: “The Group and Jürgen Gerdes have agreed on an early termination of his board membership by mutual consent and on the best of terms amid diverging views on the future strategic focus of the company. Gerdes steps down from his mandate as of today and will leave the company by June 30, 2018.”

Gerdes took charge of the newly-created board mandate for “Corporate Incubations” in April – but prior to this he led the Post – eCommerce – Parcel (PeP) division for more than a decade.

Last week, Deutsche Post DHL announced that it was introducing a range of measures to “counteract the decline in profitability in the PeP division”.

Commenting on Gerdes’ resignation, Nikolaus von Bomhard, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post DHL Group, said: “Jürgen Gerdes led the division Post – eCommerce – Parcel for more than a decade very successfully. He has driven customer-oriented innovation and the internationalization of the business and thus made significant contributions to the strong economic performance of the Group for many years. Recently he made first decisive steps in Corporate Incubations to set course for the future of the Group in the area of digital solutions, e-mobility and automation.”

The board mandate for Corporate Incubations will be taken over by Thomas Ogilvie, Member of the Board for Personnel and Labour Director.
