UPS working with Chunghwa Post and Palmbox for smart locker deliveries in Taiwan
UPS is working with Palmbox and Chunghwa Post to offer Taiwanese online shoppers the option of collecting their parcels from smart lockers.
In a statement issued on Friday (27 August), KK Leung, President of North Asia District, UPS Asia Pacific Region, said: “The consumer of today wants flexibility – from how they shop, to where their package is delivered and how payment is made.
“UPS’s latest enhancements help retailers to meet these needs, and place them in a strong position to capture a greater share of consumers in a high-potential market like Taiwan.”
Palmbox and Chunghwa Post’s iBox e-lockers are located at supermarkets, apartment complexes and selected post offices. Online shoppers will also be able to pay for any incurred import duties and taxes at selected e-lockers using a credit card.
Chunghwa Post is Taiwan’s national post.
Palmbox launched its network of smart lockers in retail outlets across Taiwan in 2017. UPS said that it was “the first international delivery company” to work with Palmbox to offer the collect on delivery option.
UPS anticipates that offering alternate delivery locations (ADLs) for Taiwan’s online shoppers will enable it to capitalise on the country’s fast growing e-commerce sector, which grew at an average of 20.9% from 2015 to 2017.
As previously reported by Post&Parcel, in June UPS also rolled out more ADLS for cross-border B2C packages delivered in Hong Kong.
