In particular, Correos has improved nearly 8% in terms of quality and reduced downtimes since the end of 2006, the date when the new quality model was implemented. Next day delivery targets are currently running at 64% for ordinary mail against 56% of 2006, and 59% in 2007.

The improvement is the result of more flexible working, and ensuring that employees skills are utilised where they are most needed. In addition, the gradual transfer of part-time workers to full-time positions has resulted in around 40% of new starters moving to more permanent jobs.

In addition more stable industrial relationships, the modernization of mail processing and the incorporation of the new IT systems has all helped improve Spanish postal services.
