FedEx Express sponsorship of Fashion Rio and Fashion Business is aligned with the company’s plans to support the textile and fashion market as well as small and medium-sized businesses. Singaporean designer Ashley Isham, Rajesh Pratap Singh from India, and Brazil’s Fabíola Molina will offer special runway shows at Fashion Business to showcase creations successful in the worldwide market, while highlighting the convenience and benefits of exporting via FedEx. In March, the company will also be represented at Lakeme Fashion Week in Mumbai, India.
Express delivery in the fashion world poses major logistical challenges. FedEx offers customized solutions to deliver pieces to retailers and distributors who, in addition to speed, require strict control of deliveries and great care in planning to ensure articles reach their destinations in the more than 220 countries served by the company.
Guilherme Gatti, director of Marketing and Communications, FedEx Express Latin America and the Caribbean, says that aside from economic conditions, there are other obstacles to the globalization of the fashion industry, such as production costs, fluctuating exchange rates, lack of credit, and labor issues.
