Urbandrop wins ANC contract
ANC has awarded a £1m plus contract to Urbandrop to provide home and commercial deliveries in Southeast London.
Urbandrop, launched at the end of 2000 with the aim of over-coming the problems experiended in placing a mail or internet order and finding that the carrier company had tried to deliver the goods when no-one was in. Urbandrop is to invest £150,000 in both its operational and IT infrastructure and is inceasing its flet of vehicles to 16, introducing further conveyor systems and increasing its number of loading docks to 12. It will integrate the new contract with its current distribution activities in London.
According to Urbandrops finance director and co-founder Paul Ronald, the deal is a departure from ANCs normal delivery arrangements. ANC has looked at existing models and recognised that the more innovative delivery solutions are required in London given the particular problems of traffic congestion, the high cost of property and the high turnover or labour.
