TNT alliance to take on Deutsche Post?

TNT is looking to form an alliance to compete with Deutsche Post in Germany, according to media reports. The Dutch company is attempting to link up with other mailing businesses in an attempt to establish its own nationwide delivery network in Germany to compete with Deutsche Post.

Under the name ‘Mail Alliance’, TNT could be joined by Pins Mail, and regional companies owned by the Madsack and Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing houses, reports business magazine Wirtschaftswoche.

The new company will concentrate on the nationwide delivery of letters up to 1kg within a 24 to 48 hour timeframe.

It is expected that the new ‘Mail Alliance’ could achieve a market share estimated at 6%, according to reports.
