La Poste reached an agreement with two trade unions

On Monday the French La Poste reached an agreement with two important
trade unions – CFDT and CFTC – which introduces a staff profit-sharing system and will be effective from 2001 until 2003. The agreement had been envisaged at the beginning of the year as a possible additional incentive for employees. Human resources manager Mr Georges Lefebvre told the daily ‘La Tribune’ that each of the company’s 310,000 employees had e.g. received a 152.4 euros bonus based on the results for the financial year 1999.
However, La Poste was still able to achieve a net profit of 283.6m euros during 1999, while the following financial year saw the net profit drop by around 51% to 139.2m euros. Market experts expect at best a similar result for the current financial year, mainly because of the important investments carried out.
