The EU Commission gave the go-ahead for the purchase of CAT.
Last week the EU Commission gave the go-ahead for the purchase of C.A.T.
The logistics and transport subsidiary of the car manufacturer Renault may thus now be taken over by the Albateam consortium (CEP News 13/01) at a price of 467.4m euros. 40% of C.A.T. will in future be owned by the British car carrier Autologic, while TNT Post Group, the Swedish shipping company Wallenius Lines and Renault will hold 20% each. The reason for the EU Commission’s consent was that all business partners together control less than 15% of the automotive logistics market in the countries concerned. Italy is the only exception, but even there the level of concentration was not a cause for concern, according to the Commission. In the financial year 2000 C.A.T. achieved a turnover of around 1.2bn euros.
