DHL Japan extends soccer deal with Urawa Red Diamonds

DHL Japan has extended a sponsorship partnership with the J-League soccer team Urawa Red Diamonds until the 2012 season.

The Urawa Reds will again display the DHL corporate logo on their uniform shorts for regular league matches and practice wear on the back, as well as in Saitama Stadium, the Urawa Reds’ home playing field.

Additionally, at the Urawa Reds’ season opener on12 March, in commemoration of the 5th anniversary of this partnership, a special sticker bearing both the Urawa Reds and DHL logos will be distributed to attendees.

This partnership agreement has continued since the two-year sponsorship arrangement that kicked off in February 2007, when DHL threw its support behind the Urawa Reds during the team’s initial foray into AFC Championship League (ACL). The partnership evolved in February 2009 to incorporate regular domestic J-League matches.

Taketo Yamakawa, representative director and president of DHL Japan, said: “It is a great pleasure for DHL to continue its partnership with the Urawa Reds this year. The relentless pursuit of best performance for customer satisfaction is common to both business and sports. DHL, which strives to remain the most ardent business partner of its Japanese customers, will lend support to the Urawa Reds’ challenge, sharing the thrills and excitement”
