GrayHair Software launches problem-solving mail squad

US mail software specialist GrayHair Software has launched a new service for business mailers that combines a problem-solving consultancy component alongside its existing mail tracking systems.

The New Jersey-based company tells Post&Parcel that it has assembled a team of postal experts who will be able to swing in to action to tackle any problems in the mailstream identified by GrayHair’s SelectSolutions real-time tracking platform.

The new MailWatch service, as it is called, will provide alerts to situations that can include delivery failures or natural disasters, before responding to help minimise delays.

Bobby Tiedeken, director of marketing at GrayHair, said the MailWatch team was experienced in analysing billions of mailpieces, and had a sound understanding of mailers’ operations including dealing with vendors and the US Postal Service.

He said the service would be particularly important as changes are made to the mailing infrastructure in the United States.

“With all these plants closing and all the different issues happening at the various mail houses, our customers need to know what is going on with their mail,” said Tiedeken.

The MailWatch service ties in with the Intelligent Mail barcode system used by USPS to track mail, and can analyze mail almost down to a single piece level according to GrayHair.

The hands-on approach to mail monitoring developed out of GrayHair’s work with larger customers over the last ten years, with the expansion of the company allowing it to broaden the support that can be provided for mailers.

Tiedeken explained: “The one thing about GrayHair is we’ve always been is hands-on, and dealing with our customers there times when we’ve been able to step in and help solve problems in their mailing. Now, we’ve stepped up to the plate and launched a product based on this approach, so that it is available for everyone.”
