Initial success for Pitney Bowes link-up with UK's Promail
Mail services giant Pitney Bowes has hailed an initial success in its partnership with UK mailroom systems provider Promail Ltd. The two companies teamed up in May to sell the US company’s DPS100 inserter machine in Britain, and has now achieved its first sale, to ID Data Cards.
The £100,000 DPS 100 machine can process up to 16,000 envelopes each hour, and at ID Data Cards, a supplier of plastic bank and membership cards, the new system will replace three machines previously used for the same task.
Pitney Bowes and Promail are now looking into the possibility of extending their partnership to include other products.
John Ricketts, UK and Ireland sales director for Pitney Bowes, said: “We are delighted at the success of the relationship and the first sale to ID Data Cards. We have several other enquiries underway and are sure that this partnership will continue to evolve.”
Promail, which has been supplying mailroom systems since 1996, serves businesses in the direct mail sector, along with mailers in the legal, finance and government sectors.
The Northamptonshire-based company’s sales and marketing director, Daran Hanson, said the DPS 100 system was targeted at the direct mail market, and was proving to be competitively priced given its “exceptional” speed.
“The relatively short time period that it has taken for our first joint sale is indicative of the success of the partnership,” he said.
Hampshire-based ID Data Cards said its new machine was an investment to cope with the growing demand for plastic cards. It said the DPS 100 would more than double the capacity at its site in Petersfield, and should provide a return on investment in just six months by cutting mail finishing costs.
John Cooke, business development director at ID Data Cards, said: “In the last 12 months we have experienced considerable demand for end-to-end solutions, so the mailer will provide us with the capacity to undertake high volume requirements in a fast and cost effective manner.”
