Daisytek tie up air and ground shipping contract with FedEx

With a new air-and-ground shipping contract and has selected sites for two new regional distribution centers, one in New York and another in California.
Next-business-day delivery of computer supplies by air using FedEx and other package-delivery companies has been a hallmark of Daisytek’s service to resellers. With the integration of a complete line of office products in recent months, Daisytek, in a new multi-year agreement, is migrating its service to provide a mix of FedEx Express and FedEx Ground transportation to deliver orders from its 20,000-item line of computer supplies, office products, and tape and film media nationwide.
In addition, Daisytek expects to add an anticipated five regional distribution centers to complement its existing “Superhub” near the FedEx Express “Superhub” in Memphis, Tenn.
“Our previously announced regional distribution rollout is on schedule with two new centers coming online by year-end. This will support Daisytek’s new office products strategy, fuel regional growth and, by moving to a next-day ground model, it’s intended to drive down costs for both Daisytek and our customers,” said George Maney, senior vice president of operations.

This will pay dividends to our resellers and their customers and is designed to carve out substantial costs from our distribution model and reinforce Daisytek’s position as the low-cost national provider in our industry,” said Jim Powell, president and CEO of Daisytek.
