Pakistan Post seeks to compete with private sector

The Pakistan Post has taken various steps in order to improve its postal services for competing with the private sector. A senior official of the Pakistan Post told APP (associated Press of Pakistan) on Sunday that steps taken to improve the postal services included introduction of electronic money orders, revamping express post services, enhancing the maximum limit of fax, urgent and ordinary money orders, review of mail arrangements and customer care.

He said that for prompt delivery of express post as well as traditional mail, 1701 motorcycles had been provided to the delivery staff.

He said that in order to speed up movement of mail/cash besides ensuring safety, 50 new vehicles were supplied to the operational offices whereas 66 old vehicles had been replaced with new ones.

“To provide value added services to the customers and for improvement of the work efficiency, all the general post offices have been computerised,” he added.
