Salvesen win contract with Tesco
Christian salvesen has won a contract to operate Tescos frozen consolidation centre in Daventry following competitive tender. From January 2002 Salvesen will service the business from its distribution centre in Easton, which is undergoing £10m investment to create an additional 23,500 frozen pallets, bringing the total capacity to 55,000.
Tesco deliveries from Western Europe and the rest of the world will be consolidated at the Easton site before forwarding to 3 Tesco centres.
Outgoing pallet movements are expected to grow from an initial 5,000 per week. Salvesen already manages a £260m 10 year contract for Tesco, managing and developing its national network of recycling service units.
