Nationwide CollectPlus service for John Lewis customers

Nationwide CollectPlus service for John Lewis customers

CollectPlus, the UK’s largest store-based parcel service, has completed the national roll-out of its click & collect service for John Lewis following a successful trial that began in September 2013. This means that every John Lewis customer in the UK who makes an online purchase* can now collect the items from one of the 5,500 local convenience stores, newsagents, supermarkets and petrol stations in the CollectPlus network, which is set to expand to 7,500 in the current financial year.

The trial launched on 25th September 2013, with the service being rolled out across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the South West of England, and more than 18,000 click & collect parcels handled during a seven month period. Now John Lewis customers can enjoy that same convenience no matter where they live in the UK, collecting their purchases from any store in the CollectPlus network, nearly all of which are open early ‘til late, seven days a week. As with the trial, the service will cost £3 and purchases will typically be delivered to their store of choice the next day.

Paul Scratchley, Commercial Director at CollectPlus, said:“Today’s shoppers are not always able to wait in at home for deliveries; and for those that live in more rural areas and smaller towns, even collection from the retailer’s store can be difficult. The roll-out of this service with John Lewis is a great example of how people in less populous areas of the country can still enjoy the same choice and convenience as those based in cities. We’re proud of the success of the trial and that in rolling the service out across the country, we are able to make John Lewis accessible to even more online shoppers.

James Leeson, Head of Online Category at John Lewis, said:“Click & collect has become a huge part of our business and we are committed to providing our customers with the most convenient shopping experience. We’re delighted to have extended that to every corner of the country.”

The partnership between John Lewis and CollectPlus complements and extends the retailer’s in-store click & collect service and is of particular benefit to online shoppers who do not live near a John Lewis or Waitrose shop. With over 90% of people in urban areas in the UK living within a mile of a CollectPlus store, and 89% of people that live in rural areas within five miles of a store in the network, CollectPlus is fast becoming the delivery option of choice for today’s online shoppers.
