New chief for Ukrposhta

The Ukrainian government has appointed a new chief executive for Ukrposhta, according to local sources. Reports on KyivPost and other local media have stated that Igor Smelyansky will be the new the CEO of Ukrposhta.

According to his LinkedIn page, Smelyansky is a graduate of the Odessa State Economics University, and worked for many years in the US, as well as Ukraine and Russia. Most recently, he has been with KPMG.

According to KyivPost, Smelyansky told government ministers that he intends to focus on making Ukrposhta a platform for e-commerce, as well as creating a postal bank.
