Pacelforces’s foreign postal contracts under threat
Uk parcels and freight distributor, ANC has confirmed it is in talks with the Italian and Spanish post offices, over forming a two-way partnership for deliveries in another’s market.
The deals, which would mirror ANC’s agreement with the Irish post office, would be stuck in response to feelings of “jitteriness” over Consignia’s Parcelforce operation, says Mark Mitchell, ANC’s business development director.
Parcelforce currently has two-way contracts with both the operators to deliver in each others domestic markets.
There has been intense media speculation over Parcel Force’s viability in recant weeks, with Consignia’s chairman, Allan Leighton, signalling that it will have to withdraw from less profitable operations outside its universal service remit.
Mitchell said ANC would look to offer the full range of the document, parcel and pallet operations into the two Mediterranean markets. He added that talks had begun with the Canadian Post office, to strike a similar deal.
