Australia Post reports “record levels” for online shopping in 2017

Australia Post’s latest e-commerce update shows that Australians’ online shopping reached “record levels” in 2017.

According to the update, Australia’s e-commerce market grew 19.2% last year – almost double the rate recorded in 2016. All told, Australia’s online shoppers spent AU$21.3bn on physical goods.

The report also said that the global e-commerce market for physical goods was worth US$1.57trn in 2017 – and it is forecast to grow by 19% in 2018 and reach over US$2trn by 2019.
