Interlink to sell French menu
Having spent the past 15 years building up its franchise presence in Ireland, interlink now has the network of customers to sell from the wider menu of services available through parent company, La Poste.
With 31 franchisees in Eire, company COO, Connor O’Neill says: “We are practically franchised up!” However since January, three new operations have started in N. Ireland taking the total there to four, and O’Neill sees that market is a key area for growth in the coming yea he expects to see last year’s revenue for Ireland grow from18-19 million euros to 22 million euros.
A good year for parcels
In spite of the slowdown in the economy, GEE’s domestic parcel service managed to keep its growth rates constant in the last quarter, and its international service even exceeded the growth forecasts. The more recently launched services saw more rapid growth than the more traditional business segments. This was particularly evident in the case of shipments to the Canary Islands, ecommerce customers and Integral Logistics. There was a considerable increase in freight shipments to the Canary Islands with the introduction of several options. This was a response to customer requirements regarding delivery: sea options with
weekly shipments from Cadiz, and air service with daily flights from Madrid. In 2001 the new Tenerife and Lanzarote installations were opened which, together with the Las Palmas depot, guarantee full coverage of the Canary Islands.
Most items delivered first time round in Berlin
The notification rate in Berlin is good. But that has not always been the case. “In 1997 we had the worst rate of anywhere in Germany,” says Sven Goerke, in charge of delivery at the EXPRESS Germany Production branch in RUdersdorf, looking back. Together with the delivery personnel a lot of hard work was done to change the rate. And since that time the level has remained good.

The cross-party Public Accounts Committee accuses Postcomm of “decision making in the dark” and says the regulator’s actions could mean the death of the universal service that guarantees deliveries to all homes in the country at a single price.
Ford chooses logistic partners
ALL (America Latina Logistica-Delara) and TNT Logistics were chosen by the Brazilian subsidiary of Ford to perform the transfer of parts and components destinated for the company’ new car, to be produced in the Camacari-based plant (Bahia). The operation will involve 140 trucks – 70 from ALL-Delara and 70 from TNT, who hired Transportadora Itapemirim to perform the task.
