Logistics post to increase postal revenue by rs100 crore (the department of posts will start a logistics post service from delhi and will expand existing services)

The Department of Posts (DP) has announced its plans to start a Logistics post service from Delhi. The service will operate from Delhi to Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Agra and the National Capital Region. It will focus on large consignments from clients in the corporate sector.

The service is expected to earn a revenue of Rs100 crore in the first year of operation. The DP’s existing Logistics post services in Mumbai and Tamil Nadu will also be expanded. The DP’s post and parcel service earns Rs1,000 crore a year now.

DHL appoints Craig Gossgart as Country Manager, India

New Delhi, July 10 (PTI) Air express services provider DHL today said it has appointed Craig Grossgart as Country Manager for its Indian operations.

“Craig Gossgart will be responsible for driving the Express business in one of DHL’s key growth markets in the region,” a DHL release said.

Grossgart succeeds Chris Callen who was appointed Vice President, Domestic Express, DHL Express Asia Pacific region.

Prior to being appointed as Country Manager for India, Grossgart was Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong-based Asian Container terminals, the release said.

DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, today announced the launch of its ‘Green Logistics’ environmental initiatives in Japan. As a first step, DHL Japan will begin using a fuel-cell car, a hybrid truck and bicycles in its collection and delivery services, primarily in Tokyo.

Big Four Turn Cautious on China's Domestic Delivery Market

DHL, FedEx, UPS, and TNT have slowed down their expansion in the Chinese domestic delivery market these days due to high costs.

FedEx, the world’s largest express delivery company, is reported to only operate international express delivery business in China for the moment.

US-based FedEx has become the main sponsor of Chinese Badminton Team from 2006 to 2008, when members of the team would wear sports clothes with words “FedEx” when participating in international games.

A principal at the market division of FedEx’s Asia-Pacific region explained that this move was aimed to further enhance its brand recognition among Chinese small and medium customers.

Dutch TNT To Renew Coop Talks with Japan Post

Dutch mail and express deliveries group TNT NV will renew negotiations with Japan Post about a strategic cooperation, TNT CEO, Peter Bakker, said on June 28, 2006.

Our initial deadline to set up an international express services joint venture cannot be met, chiefly due to the ongoing privatisation of Japan Post, Bakker added. TNT and Japan Post said earlier this week that the joint venture talks between them were ended. According to Bakker, there are many other cooperation opportunities.
