GeoPost opens new DPD depot in Rijsen, Netherlands

GeoPost has opened a new DPD depot at the Dutch town of Rijsen, its 14th location in the Benelux region. The new facility, covering 3,000 sqm, is meant to facilitate DPD parcel delivery in the easternmost part of the Netherlands, which was previously served from Bad Bentheim in neighbouring Germany. The depot will handle up to 4,000 parcels a day with capacity to expand to 10,000 parcels a day.

GeoPost to complete acquisition of Exapaq in France

La Poste group’s Board of Directors today announced that it has given authorisation for GeoPost – the holding company for the group’s parcel and express subsidiaries– to complete its acquisition of the Exapaq network, currently managed by 15 partners in the transport and parcel delivery sectors. This operation is subject to the agreement of France’s Directorate-General for Competition, Consumption and Fraud Control (DGCCRF).

Estonia: Turnover of BLS Logistics company up by 25 percent in 2005

Baltic Logistic System (BLS) Estonia posted a turnover of more than 45.5 million kroons (EUR 2.9 mln) last year, a quarter higher than in 2003. The number of consignments forwarded increased by 66 percent in 2005. On the average, the company forwarded nearly 5,000 consignments a day. Tarmo Tael, CEO of BLS Estonia, said the number of courier-delivered packages sent to countries of the European Union clearly increased side by side with domestic packages.
BLS Estonia has operated on the Estonian market since 1999. Since September 1999 the company has been part of GeoPost.

Greek Piraeus Bank sells Interattica stake to GeoPost for 2.7 mln Euro

Greek Piraeus Bank IT subsidiary Evision has completed the sale of its 66 pct stake in courier company Interattica Parcel Service Network for 2.7 mln euro (USD3.15 mln), it was reported on January 20, 2006. The stake was sold to French rival GeoPost, following a preliminary agreement signed in late-2005.
GeoPost plans to acquire a total of 86 pct in Interattica through share purchases from other shareholders as well.
