Russia Post privatisation on track

Russian Post, the nationwide postal service established last September, will become a joint stock company next year and will go public in 2007, Communications Deputy Minister Alexander Kiselyov said Thursday.

Russian Post to make USD400M from new services by 2006

The state-owned Russian Post company plans to receive USD400 million in revenues from new services by 2006, the company’s acting director Igor Syrtsov told a news conference Wednesday.

The number of public access Internet outlets at Russian post offices stood at 6,600 at the beginning of the year, up from a little over 1,000 at the beginning of 2002, Ilya Genkin, a representative of the postal service department in Russia’s Communications and IT Ministry, said Tuesday. He was speaking at a conference on high technologies in the Russian postal service.
