Russia Post System Should Remain State Owned

The Russia Journal has reported that “As matters stand now, the post should remain state-owned, the head of the Post Department of Russias Communications Ministry, Evgeny Birger, told the Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper. He disagrees with the position of the Communications Ministry. In its concept for the restructuring of Russias postal system, the Ministry pointed to the necessity of uniting all postal organizations into the Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FGUP), to be privatized in the future.”

The tariffs for Russian Post services are raised

Forwarding of letters and post cards became more expensive on average by 14%. According to the Ministry of anti-monopoly policy, acommon letter, for example, costs now Rbl3,25 and a registered letter- Rbl 5. Theincrease of post tariffs corresponds to the general dynamics of prices for industrial products.
