The revenues from Russia’s postal services rose 15%-20% on the year to 30 billion rubles in 2003 according to preliminary data, the general director of the state-owned Russian Post company Igor Syrtsov told reporters.

Currently, Russian Post operates in 25 out of Russia’s 89 regions, while in other regions there are regional post service departments, which are expected to join Russian Post by the second quarter of this year, he said.

Postal services turnover in Russia may increase to USD 3 billion by 2010 from the expected USD 1.2 billion this year, provided the postal service development program is implemented, Anton Shchegolikhin from the IT and Communications Ministry said Thursday.

Russia’s postal industry took 28 billion rubles in sales in 2002, up 26.7% on the year, according to materials prepared for the Communications and IT Ministry’s board meeting Tuesday.

The postal service’s core activities generated 19.2 billion rubles in sales in 2002, up 28.1% on the year.
