SingPost says UK commission revision won’t have big impact on earnings

Singapore Post says the revised commission structures, business reorganization and one-time restructuring cost at a European joint venture are not likely to have a significant impact on SingPost’s overall performance for the current financial year. Previously, SingPost had expected restructuring of the joint venture, called Spring, to cut net profit for this financial year by as much as SD6.5 million. The losses would have largely come from the gradual write-down of its initial start-up cost. But SingPost now says it plans to adopt a new rule proposed by Singapore’s accounting authorities which does not require goodwill to be gradually written down.

Spring names new president in the United States

Spring, the world’s largest independent provider of international mail services, has named a new president in the United States. The reorganisation became necessary after David Walker, formerly president and CEO, returned to the United Kingdom to accept a position with Royal Mail Group plc, one of three shareholder companies of Spring. Paul Tessy, formerly the U.S. vice president of Sales, Commercial and Client Services, has been appointed president, with responsibility for the Spring business in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.

TNT splits off direct-mail outfit

TNT Post Group (TNT) recently split off its direct mail logistics business to a new company managed by its affiliate. G3 Worldwide Mail Logistics (Thailand) Co Ltd (G3) was formally established on April 1 with 52 employees to provide direct mail and direct marketing logistics services, such as international mail distribution, response management service, mail-room management and call-centre service, under the Spring brand name.
