Alibaba holds “official kickoff” for its new Japan MD Center

Alibaba yesterday (19 May) welcomed nearly 200 leading Japanese brands and manufacturers to the official kickoff meeting of its new Japan MD Center. According to Alibaba, the event was held to help improve Japanese merchants’ understanding of how they can “benefit from this initiative to get better access to the e-commerce market in China and Asia”.

Daniel Zhang, CEO of Alibaba Group, and Makoto Koyama, CEO of Alibaba Japan (a joint venture between Alibaba and Softbank Group), attended the launch, along with representatives from companies such as Shiseido, Askul, HABA, MTG, Kyowa, Japan Gateway and Unicharm.
