Australia Post begins extended hours parcel deliveries in time for Christmas

Australia Post has announced that it will trial extended hours parcel deliveries to more than one million customers across capital cities this festive season. Rolling out the service to selected metropolitan areas around Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, extended hours deliveries will see parcels delivered between 7am-8pm, Monday to Thursday, from Monday (14 November) until 23December.

Australia Post expects to deliver more than one million parcels every day leading up to Christmas.

Managing Director & Group CEO Ahmed Fahour commented: “We know how frustrating it can be for customers to miss a parcel delivery because they weren’t home during the day, which is why we’re excited to roll out extended hours parcel deliveries.

“Customers can also expect extended trading hours at our Post Offices, with some stores in major shopping centres opening on Sundays.”

In addition to extended hours parcel delivery, Australia Post is also encouraging customers to send their parcels to one of the 250 free 24/7 Parcel Locker locations across the country.
