DHL gives African consumers access to over 200 US/UK online stores
DHL has launched an e-commerce app called eSHOP that allows people in Africa to access US and UK consumer retail sites.
With its patent-pending platform and guaranteed payment system, eSHOP gives customers in 11 African markets (South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Mauritius, Ghana, Senegal, Rwanda, Malawi, Botswana, Sierra Leone and Uganda), access to over 8.5 billion items.
Once they are paid for, items are then shipped directly to DHL Express facilities for quality assurance. From there the consumer has a choice of having items sent to their address or picking it up from local pickup stations within days.
The eSHOP website says: “At DHL eSHOP, we are passionate about moving the global digital infrastructure forward by creating and managing a fraud-free cross-border eCommerce platform.
“Before DHL eSHOP, most emerging markets could not purchase directly from US and European sites. By managing every aspect of the order cycle, we offer our customers a simple, secure, and convenient solution to online shopping from some of the best brands in the world – with new sites added every month.”
The app is powered by African e-commerce infrastructure provider MallforAfrica.
