DPD’s Maastricht facility will help the company to meet peak volumes

Parcel delivery service DPD has opened a distribution centre at the Beatrixhaven industrial estate in Maastricht.

With this new distribution centre, DPD further increases its capacity in the delivery of parcels in the Netherlands in order to keep up with the rapid growth in demand.

Moreover, DPD reduces its transport movements from the sorting centre in Eindhoven to Maastricht by 5000 kilometres. This equals a reduction of well over 400 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

The distribution centre has a floor surface area of almost 5,500 m² business space and 1250 m² office space. By using the space available in a smart way, DPD can sort more than 15,000 parcels per day in order to deliver them in and around Maastricht.

Eric Dietz, CEO DPD Nederland: “By opening the Maastricht site, we are further increasing our capacity, so that we can capitalize on the demand from the market and are able to better cope with peak volumes. In addition, we have also looked at ways that allow us to further reduce our carbon footprint. We do so by deploying electrical vehicles, but we also look at ways to plan our routes more efficiently. By opening the Maastricht site, we can also make a significant reduction in our transport-related CO2 emissions.”
