DHL continues in 2005 its success in Russian market
DHL, the world’s leading express delivery and logistics company, continued in 2005 its success in the Russian market. DHL Express reports that in 2005 shipment volumes increased by more than 30% in comparison with 2004, while revenue increased by over 40%.
The strongest volume growth was in DHL Domestic products. In 2005 DHL Domestic MidDay Express 12 and DHL Domestic StartDay Express 9 services both had growth rate of over 100% in 2005 as opposed to 2004.
In meeting this growth in demand, DHL has focused on providing a wider range of products during 2005. DHL domestic services are supported with DHL Domestic SameDay Express that is meant to transport time-sensitive shipments. This product is offered on the Moscow-St. Petersburg-Moscow route with the pick-up of shipments before 12:00 AM and their delivery by 09:00 PM in the evening of the same day.
DHL Express Freight is another example. This is a reliable, premium level freight service to the European countries that targets the parcel to pallet weight segment. This product is aimed for shipping goods weighing over 70 kg. The transit time for this product is only 2-3 days longer than the DHL Express EndDay 18 product.
DHL’s main service offering is supported by a wide range of value added services. The introduction of advanced packaging solutions has made shipping sensitive goods safer and more convenient. Customer demand has been high for the newly launched Worldwide Medical Express packaging for the Life Sciences industry.
‘I am very pleased that the positive trend of DHL’s development in the Russian market continues. With our investment programme of nearly 50 mln. USD within the next few years in the facilities and infrastructure in Russia, we are in position to allow our customers to move their goods across borders and within the country seamlessly and quickly.
