ColiPoste plans nationwide French parcel collection network
ColiPoste, the La Poste B2C and C2C parcels delivery company, plans to establish a nationwide network of parcel collection points within the next two years. The expansion plan is part of its ongoing €250 million investment programme.
ColiPoste is currently testing 10 “Cityssimo” locations in Paris and plans to introduce more locations throughout the French capital in 2007, Christian Emery, managing director of ColiPoste, said at the World Mail & Express Europe conference in Paris this week. The nationwide rollout of the stations would follow in 2008.
The collection points have been successfully tested in the capital’s XI and XV districts since October 2005. Customers are automatically alerted by SMS or e-mail that a parcel is ready for collection. They access the outlet or parcels kiosk with a personalised card.
Emery told the audience of European mail and express managers that ColiPoste’s consumer delivery business had been growing at about 15-20% since 2004. This growth was driven by e-commerce in France, especially the growth of Ebay. The parcel collection sites adapt to the changing lifestyles of customers by enabling them to collect their parcels at a time to suit them.
Under its €250 million investment programme, ColiPoste is modernising its services and expanding its handling capacity by 30% through the opening of new parcel sorting centres.
