CTT: base salaries increase following “ambitious and comprehensive review”

CTT – Correios de Portugal workers with base salaries of up to 2,924.50 euros will have an increase of 60 euros from January, the company announced.

In a statement, CTT said that in addition to the 60-euro increase, there will also be an update to the salary tables of 30 euros in all salary ranges for each category, as well as an increase in the meal allowance to 9.35 euros.

The salary update, agreed by all unions, as indicated in the statement, also sets the minimum base salary for entry into the company at 825 euros.

This salary review has been classified by the company as “ambitious and comprehensive”, and takes effect from January 1, 2024, as a result of the negotiation process with worker representatives.

After another “challenging” year, marked by rising inflation and rising interest rates and the consequent difficulties in managing family budgets, the CTT executive committee states that “it has sought to implement measures that contribute to minimizing the effects of the current macroeconomic environment, increasing the purchasing power” of workers, while “ensuring the future sustainability of the company”.

CTT employs 11,788 people, having recorded operating gains of 906.6 million euros in 2022 and transporting 457.6 million items of addressed mail.
